House of Vans Team Up with DIY at Bestival

House of Vans Team Up with DIY at Bestival

House of Vans  made its debut UK festival appearance at Bestival’s 15th anniversary celebrations this month on the Lulworth Estate, Dorset. The ‘Off the Wall’ fashion brand and London-based skate experience  engaged the festival’s own creative event production and brand activation division to undertake design and event production for their inaugural festival activation. Music across the weekend has been programmed by House of Vans and DIY, along with Bestival’s sister label Sunday Best Recordings.

Designed to complement Bestival’s renowned aesthetic and showcase the myriad strands of creativity that are hallmarks of both Bestival and House of Vans, the activation comprises a warehouse-style structure featuring a live music stage, bar, vintage photobooth and workshop space with screen printing hosted by Lovenskate, hair braiding, skate film screenings and merchandise giveaways. A connected exterior courtyard included a lounge space, art installations curated by Bestival Artistic Director Josie da Bank and food and juice concessions.

Bestival curator Rob da Bank previously said: “Just like us innovation and creativity are at the heart of everything that (House of Vans) do, so you know their stage is going to be special. And with Sunday BestDIY and House of Vans all in on the music action it’s going to be packed to the rafters all weekend long.”

DIY Interviewed Superorganism to Raise Awareness of ETEP

Superorganism – following their performance at Eurosonic 2018 – are the most booked band of the ETEP programme, and they gave up some of their time for DIY at The Great Escape.

DIY interviewed Superorganism as part of our campaign to raise awareness of the Eurosonic-related European Talent Exchange Programme (ETEP); each year artists at Eurosonic can get themselves in front of bookers from the ETEP festival network.

Jäger Curtain Call takes over the Jagerhaus at Bestival

Jäger Curtain Call takes over the Jagerhaus at Bestival

As we announced earlier this year, Sonic once again brought together Jägermeister and DIY for a third year of the Jäger Curtain Call programme. In 2017, however, it came with a twist. As opposed to settling down on Shoreditch’s Curtain Road, as we have over the past two years, this year, up-and-coming band Fur were given the opportunity to play at this year’s Bestival, as part of Jägermeister’s mightily impressive brand activation, the Jägerhaus.

Having recorded new offering ‘If You Know That I’m Lonely’ at Tileyard Education Studios back in August, the band then made the journey to Lulworth Cove for this year’s edition of Bestival. Setting up camp in the Jägerhaus on Friday evening, the Jäger Curtain Call takeover also played host to project alumni Kagoule and Bellevue Days, as well as inviting Muncie Girls and Free Money to join in the fun. All in all, it was one hell of an evening filled with great music, brilliant new bands and lots of Jägermeister!

You can read DIY’s full report of the evening right here. Many thanks to Jägermeister’s events team and FRUKT for aiding our involvement in the Jägerhaus.
